Volunteer Caseworkers

If you think you have time, experience, energy and common sense, you may wish to volunteer and join our expanding team.

Volunteer caseworkers are the lifeblood of what we do. By giving up your precious time for The Paperweight Trust, you become a vital conduit between those who need help and those who can give help.

Our caseworkers provide immediate practical support and guidance for those who find themselves isolated and alone. You become involved at a time in people’s lives when they are extremely vulnerable and floundering.  Your guidance and understanding can immediately reduce their anxieties and help them regain their confidence.

Paperweight’s caseworker team is made up both of professionals covering many areas of law, accountancy, IFAs, as well as those who are not professionals, but who have common sense, are unafraid of bureaucracy, completing forms or speaking to the person in a suit on the other end of the line.

You can bring a level head, unsullied by the stressful situation in which the clients may find themselves and make a real difference.  Our intervention is not intended to take over our client’s lives, but to hold their hands through tricky processes, teach and educate them how to handle these situations themselves and ultimately to give them the confidence to carry on.

What do we look for in our volunteers?

We look for empathy, patience and sensitivity but more than that, we look for people who genuinely want to help.

Your primary role is to help our clients to organise their administrative matters. If any legal or financial advice is required, we have a number of professionals to whom we can refer clients should they need that type of assistance.
